Super Bowl VX is less than one week away! I am not a fan of either of these teams but am a fan of a good game and this one has some significant historical points that I felt I should bring to the table. The Seattle Seahawks will face off against The New England Patriots next Sunday in San Francisco at the 49er’s Levi’s Stadium. 11 years ago, these teams faced off in Super Bowl 49 where the Seahawks goofed the win with a decision to throw the ball at the one-yard line which got intercepted to lose the game with a score of 28-24. The win next Sunday will set New England alone in the NFL with the most Super Bowl wins surpassing the Pittsburgh Steelers who they are currently tied with at 6 each.

This year, both teams finished with dominating 14-3 records. Seattle’s 1st game vs the San Francisco 49ers set a trend for the year beating the Niners three times including the 2nd round of the playoffs to send them to the NFC Championship game against the Los Angelas Rams. New England started a little slower with a week 1 loss to the absolute worst team in football this year, the Las Vegas Raiders.  However, the very next week they had their 1st road win against the Miami Dolphins and became the first team in NFL history to finish 9-0 on the road, including playoffs.

It is Darnold’s 1st year as the Seahawks QB and also his 1st appearance in a Superbowl. And check this out, last year he played for the Minnesota Vikings and this year, the Vikings fired their Offensive Coordinator for letting Ole Sam go. Shitty move in my opinion but screw the Vi-queens (old spite from when my TB Bucs were in that division). He finished the season with over 4000 yards and 25 TDs.

This is May’s 2nd year in the NFL with the Pats. He almost doubled his passing yards with 4393 and over doubled his TD percentage with 31 total. He is the 2nd youngest QB to play in a SB behind Marino and with a win, he will surpass Ben Roethlisberger as the youngest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl.

The best matchup of the game will be between two premier talents from the 2023 NFL Draft. Patriots’ cornerback Christian Gonzalez, selected 17th overall, and Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, taken just three picks later. My bet’s on JSN, this kid is electrifying!!!

Ok, enough about the game. Let’s talk about the commercials. Know there will be the Budweiser Clydesdales, Bud light with Peyton Manning and Dunkin Doughnuts with Ben Afflack. Others will include Pringles, Nike and Instacart.

While watching the game and commercials, the food is key. Some staples for the big game are of course the sausage/Velveeta dip. Some like to add Rotella to it but I prefer not to. I also serve it out of a cute little football crockpot that I have. Rotel Dip Recipe – How to Make Rotel Dip Here is a football cheeseball recipe that is always a touchdown. Some other toppings could be sour cream/Greek yogurt, chopped meat like bacon/sausage/chicken/pulled pork, steamed veggies like broccoli/cauliflower. You can go crazy and add some olives and sun dried tomatoes to the table for a Mediterranean twist. Have fun with it!
